Kinetics and Thermodynamics of the Pyrolysis of Waste Polystyrene over Natural Clay

Due to the massive increase in polymer manufacture, there has been a remarkable plastic waste. With fewer landfills being used dump waste each year, it is becoming increasingly important use effective recycling methods for decomposition. In present work, polystyrene was degraded presence of natural clay (K<sub>0.02</sub>, Ca<sub>0.15</sub> [Mg<sub>0.25</sub>, Al<sub>0.69</sub>, Fe<sub>0.06</sub>], [Si<sub>2.0</sub>, Al<sub>0.6</sub>] O<sub>6.8</sub> (O<sub>10</sub>) nH<sub>2</sub>O). The pyrolyzed at different heating rates i.e., 5, 10, 15 and 20°C min<sup>-1</sup> an inert environment using nitrogen within temperature range 40 600°C. Thermogravimetric data were interpreted various models, including fitting kinetic Coats-Redfern model-free Ozawa-Flynn-Wall, Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose Friedman method. activation energy determined by Coats-Redfern, models 83.22-150.37, 74.52-133.71, 73.16-131.23, 78.40-140.67 kJmol<sup>-1</sup>, respectively. Among them, lowest degradation observed calculated parameters would be useful determining reaction mechanism solid-state reactions real system.
